Best way to convert publisher files to my Mac

As you likely know, Publisher is a MS Windows application. Look at the file extension and then research to see if there are any OS X apps that read those files.

People should never send files in publisher formats; I've even had terrible trouble converting pub files to work on other Windows computers that did not have Pub installed.

If you created the files, do Save as... from Publisher's File menu on your Windows computer and select "PDF" as a format. Anyone will be able to read those.

There are some web-based, free conversion services that will at least let others read the text and view images, but the formatting will be lost.

Again, Publisher is not a sharable format today, even between Windows computers, and files should never be sent in native format.
