iMessage on my Mac no longer sends messages. It only sends SMS, even to contacts that have apple ID

Recently as of 3 Days ago, I was having no issues with iMessages on both iPhone 6 and Macbook Pro 2012. Then, I began to have issues in regards to syncing. I can send messages that are blue via iPhone 6 just fine. But the issue is that Blue messages sent by iPhone do not get to my macbook, But when they are sent as SMS they are received by the Macbook Pro. On the side of the MBP, when I send a message it only sends as SMS. This does show up on my iPhone. So I guess to simplify the issue is that Blue Messages on my mac are not sending or receiving, but SMS are. I have attempted several fixes but none have worked. No settings were adjusted to maybe cause this. If you have had experiences with this

Attempt Fixes

1) Sign out of apple id on both devices and then sign back in.

2) Restart both devices after several minutes.

3) Make sure phone setting (the forwarding device setting) is on.

4) Turn the forwarding device setting off then re-sync.

My daughter's iMessage had the same issue on her Macbook Pro. Tried all of the suggestions. I logged her iMessage out of all of her the devices. On the mac iMessage app under preference I disabled the account. Sent a couple messages on her iPhone to make sure it was just sending texts. Rebooted her iPhone and restarted her mac. Than went back to enable iMessages. Got it back to work again....

You've tried all of the above suggestions? It happened to my daughter's computer. She couldn't send out iMessages on her computer. This is what we did.

1. turned off iMessage on her iPhone,

2. signed out of Messages

3. re-booted the computer and iPhone

4. signed back into iMessages on iPhone

5. tested to make sure iMessages were being sent by the iPhone

6. Logged back into Messages on the computer and added the iCloud account. Phone number and email should show up.

That seemed to work for me.

Hi,

Messages can use several different types of ID AIM/AOL IDs being one of them.

Do you have an AIM or AOL ID ?

Do you use an @mac.cm or @me.com or @icloud.com as a AIM Screen Name (As these are valid as well).

This really is maddening.

This just started happening to me.

I can send iMessages to my wife from my iPhone to hers, but (suddenly - no upgrades or anything else, it just started happening one day) all messages I send to her from my Mac are sent as SMS. Even when I start a new thread from my IPhone and then respond to her reply via my Mac (i.e. I send an iMessage to her from my phone, and she replies with an iMessage from her phone, and then I reply to that message from my MacBook), the new reply will always be an SMS (and won't send at all about half the time). The above solutions don't seem to be working for me.

Are there any other ways to force Messenger to send only iMessages to iPhones? One wouldn't think it would be this difficult to do.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Her name in the "To" spot at the top of the right hand, conversation pane can be used as a drop down.

In some cases the Text option will show a little green speech bubble.

(the one in the pic is not active).

However this conversation has also swapped between iMessages and a Login for the same ID as a Valid AIM Screen Name.

Have you tried just Resetting the Text Forwarding ?

Turn it Off on the iPhone and then Turn it On and re-add the Mac generating a new code number.
