I also have 1Password. I find the iCloud synching to be very beneficial. If I add a new login or change something, it is automatically updated on all my devices automatically.

Having said that, I have found Apple Keychain to be very similar to 1Password on my new MBPr running Yosemite. Keychain also synchs to the cloud and provides password recommendations, etc... I'd personally like to know if there is any benefit to have 1Password now, or if I spent $50 for nothing.

1password is more secure than keychain. For added security, you can switch off the iCloud sync and use wifi sync. So, if iCloud gets hacked, your passwords stay secure.

You can also store other sensitive data in 1password, for example, software licences and secure notes.

1password's password generating algorithm is also more secure than keychain's.

With Keychain, if your device is unlocked and unattended, someone can use your browsers and log in to all your sites with your credentials. 1password however locks you out of its vault after a preset time and you have to re-enter the Master password.

So, I do not think you have wasted your money. You have rather enhanced your security for a small amount of money which will probably save you more money down the line.
