I can't update pass 10.8.4

Hope someone can help me understand what is going on here :

Every time i try to update my OS. It will freeze on start up or do a continuous rebooting... but 10.8.4 is the only version that runs good. Im trying to at least update to 10.8.5 and that is not happening and i don't know why? any help would be appreciated
