How do I transfer my music library from my iMac to my new iPad?
I've just procured an iPad 4 and updated the iOS. I can't seem to figure out how to clone software or files from my iMac.

Not sure what you mean by 'clone software' (you can't install Mac software on an iPad ; only iOS apps from the iTunes app store on your Mac, or the App Store app directly on the iPad).
To sync music from your Mac's iTunes library, connect the iPad to your Mac, select it in your Mac's iTunes, and use its Music tab to select and sync your music to the iPad's Music app

If you want to copy documents to your iPad's apps (documents can only be stored within apps, an iPad doesn't have a file system like a 'normal' computer) then how you do so depends upon what the app that you want to copy them supports e.g. file sharing (About File Sharing on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support), copy via your wifi network, email, Dropbox
