How to delete some photos from device but them keep on iCloud
I'm trying to delete some of my photos from Photos on my iPad, but want them to remain in iCloud.
how can that be done? Thanks for your help.

If you are using iCloud Photo Library (and want to continue using it) it cannot be done. With iCloud Photo Library if you delete a photo from any device of from iCloud the photo is deleted from all of the devices and from iCloud. The most you can do to reduce the storage space required on your iPad is to go to Settings > iCloud > Photos and turn Optimize Storage on. Apple does not offer any cloud-only storage option at this time. You may want to make a suggestion that more options be offered: https://www.apple.com/feedback/icloud.html
If cloud-only storage is something that you require, you may want to investigate 3rd party options such as Dropbox or Flickr.
