Q: Possible Iphone 7 Scam

I was surfing the internet when a pop up appeared and told me that I had been randomly selected to receive a iPhone 7 as part of a focus test.  The pop up forced me to click an OK button and then redirected me to a website iphone.com-rewards.xyz where it is asking me to fill out a survey. I haven't done this as I assume this is a scam.  I searched the Apple website looking for an appropriate place to inform/verify that this was indeed a scam.  Not having found a suitable place I choose to post this here.  Thanks for the help.

Yes. This is a scam or phishing attack. There is no iPhone 7. Delete the message and do not provide any information.

It is a scam. There is no iPhone 7, and Apple does not give away devices. You can go to the feedback page to report the information. http://www.apple.com/feedback

Indeed it is a scam. Apple have not announced any plans for a new iPhone let alone what its name would be. There is no iPhone 7 at this time, and nothing to indicate there will be one in the near future.

If you wish to report the site to Apple you can use this page to do so:

    https://www.apple.com/legal/more-resources/phishing/

It mostly refers to E-Mails but you can send the url of the website their way as well.

I have had these pop ups appearing lately.

as I'm new to my iPad I'm not sure how I close the scam without using the OK button.

Currently i just have to close the iPad down and restart it.

is there any other way of doing it safely ?

You can either use the o.k button, which on an iPad will do nothing harmful, or close Safari directly by double clicking the home button, and swiping the Safari screen shot up and off the screen.

This message appeared in Safari on iPhone. There is no option to do anything but OK. Closing Safari, turning off iPhone completely doesn't work. As soon as Safari is opened again the message is there with no other options. Totally locked out of Safari. Anyone know how to get rid of this message?

Double tap the Home button, then swipe upwards on the Safari preview.

Go to Settings - Safari - Clear History.

    Restart Safari.

Double tap the home button to bring up the multi-tasking list. Find Safari and swipe upwards on the thumbnail to force closed the app. Then go to Settings>Safari>Clear History and Website data. After that, do a reset on the phone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo. After the phone reboots, you can open Safari again.

I found that clearing history and cookies allowed getting rid of the locked screen. When I came back to enter this information I saw two responses with this solution. Thanks to those who replied.

The url is apple.com--apple.com and it was pushed to me off of the "map my ride" app as an "important message." Once I clicked there I couldn't close the message without clicking "okay." Update: have now read the suggestions above and was able to escape! Thanks.

Clearing History and cookies may help getting rid of this issue as I had the chance to do and it disappeared.
