Automatically "mirror" music folder in iTunes

Hello...

I'm interested in managing my music library with iTunes, but in perhaps an odd way. I don't want to manage it from within the iTunes interface, per se. I'd like to create a music resource older on my hard drive, organized however I want it into folders, sub-folders, sub-sub-folders, etc. This would all be done in Finder. I would then like iTunes to automatically sync to this folder and "mirror" its hierarchy in the iTunes interface. If I add, delete, change folders and the music within them, it'd all be automatically updated in the iTunes interface. I know you can create playlists and folders from within iTunes, but it'd be much easier for me to manage all that at the Finder level, and have it reflected automatically in iTunes.

Is this possible, either with iTunes directly, or perhaps thru a 3rd party plugin? If not, does anyone know of a music library/playback app that might do what I want it to?

Thanx in advance for your time...
