How can I retrieve email vanished from my @.mac inbox?

Hello, I've searched the community and haven't seen exactly this question on this operating system version so I'll ask it here.

I have several accounts ( gmail, .mac msn, cloud) in my mail , but this morning, when I checked my mail, all of the mail in my inbox for my .mac account had disappeared. The only thing that I did that was unusual the day before was to create and delete a smart mailbox. I've checked in preferences that the account is enabled. I do have a time machine backup, but don't know how to retrieve info from just this account. Any suggestions from the smart users out there?

MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

If you can set the screen to how it opens when you are using.mac mail ... then go into Time Machine, it should show the contents. But I don't have Yosemite so I cannot be sure.

Do a backup.

Quit Mail.

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Go to Library/Containers/com.apple.mail. Enter Time Machine.
