Imac-Time Capsule

I apologize for the basics of the question. First Apple desktop. First Time Capsule. Searched in the forums but some of the discussions were above my level of knowledge.

I have a Motorola 6141 Comcast modem.

I just bought an Imac and a Time Capsule

Motorola SB6141 Modem has only one Ethernet connection which by the manual on the Time Capsule...... should connect to the Time Capsule

Can I connect the other Ethernet connection on the Time Capsule to the Imac for a wired connection? (Manual suggests

connection to a printer to which I can connect wireless)

Is there a good reason to connect the Imac via ethernet for internet or should I simplify my life and connect via wireless and forget

the wired connection

We currently connect Ipad and Iphone via wireless.

Thanks!

iMac

Your Time Capsule can be connected to your iMac wirelessly or via Ethernet. If you don't know how to connect this would be the ideal time for you to contact AppleCare and they can coach you through it. You have 90 days of free AppleCare telephone support whenever you purchase any Mac, if you already bought AppleCare then this is extended to 3 years and also extends the warranty to 3 years. Contact them and they will walk you through the process. If you are in the USA the number is 800-275-2273.

Ethernet is faster and more reliable as Kappy says, however it depends on what you use your system for. If you are a typical user and most of your work is e-mail, internet etc then wi-fi is fine and frees up a port on your Time Capsule. IMHO either way would be fine, personally I like less wire laying around so I go wi-fi but if you want Ethernet go for it.
