How to find the owner of a lost iphone 6 with no sim card?

My brother found a iphone 6 with no sim card at the beach. The phone is connected to the owners Apple ID. We want to return the phone. What should we do to find the owner of the phone?

You can try asking Siri for the owners information. If you get noting turn the phone in to the local authorities.

Phone is locked. I told him to go to apple store and they can return the phone to the owner. If that doesn't work then local authorities.

I believe this phone was stolen and ditched since it can't be activated without a sim card. We are going to go to the apple store to give it to them or turn it in to the police.

Don't bother taking it to the Apple Store. They cannot help you. Turn it in to the police.
