HSBC Card Verification
I've been trying for days to verify my HSBC cards on Apple Pay. Keep getting the "Verification Not Available" message. HSBC are totally useless.
Any suggestions?

Thanks for the comment - I've now been able to verify the card. It's the first time I've tried during the day - I don't know if that has any impact but it was between 1pm and 2pm
also - both my cards were new too - I've had them for 7 days today so that might have something to do with it too.
I tried to verify mine earlier and I got a message to call First Direct. I spoke to someone in their digital team and after some questions and verification of my identity they were able to acvtivate my card over the phone. The guy suggested it was a problem with my phone but from checking online it seems to be a common problem with First Direct.
All set up now though.
I'm having similar trouble with my HSBC Visa debit card. I was able to add it to Passbook on my iPhone 6 Plus first time round. I've been trying again and again for several days to add it to my Apple Watch but it keeps giving me a message that the card has not been added and to contact the issuing bank. It won't even get to the verification process. I've been back and forth the past few days with Apple customer service ( even speaking to a senior adviser ) and HSBC ApplePay support but neither seems to be of any help. I've restarted both my phone and watch and even unpaired the watch.
I've also been able to add my Amex card to both my phone and watch so I know it's not my phone, watch or the way I'm trying to add it. It's clearly a fault with HSBC or Visa. HSBC has told me they will get in contact with Visa on my behalf as they see nothing wrong with my account. They did mention that trying so many times may have locked me out and to wait 24 hours and try again which I did with no success. Now they are telling me to wait 48 hours. Neither HSBC nor Apple seem to be wanting to take on the responsibility and make a proper effort to find out what the actual problem is. I know I can use my phone but I also want to be able to use my watch.
I've applied for an HSBC credit card and I hope I don't have the same issues with that too.
Just received a First Direct card this weeked (they are owned by HSBC group) and I'm having the same issues. I rang them and they just told me to keep trying to add the card until it works.
Thanks for the advice but as with tightrope78 - they weren't helpful! They advised to keep trying.
That's good, though, isn't it?
Now you know that you're not doing anything wrong - so keep trying and it should eventually work. 🙂
Edit: we overlapped posts - glad it worked out for you.
