Data transfer from Macbook pro to External HD

Hi

I've a Macbook Pro retina Late 13 version with OS X Yosemite version 10.10.4 in it. Recently upgraded from OS X Macericks.

How do I transfer Data( photos, other files) from Macbook to my External HD?

The reverse is allowed, just by drag and drop I can copy files from External HD to Macbook.

I need to transfer 1 gb of pics to My external HD.

Please Help me with this.

Thanks

Ankit

The external drive may not be formatted that allows you to write to it. It will either have to be reformatted (which will erase all data on it) or if it is formatted NTFS, you will have to use a third party application such as Tuxera or Paragon.

Ciao.
