User uploaded fileUser uploaded fileUser uploaded file SO, I have a 2010 macbook pro 15'' OSX Yosemite 10.10.3, 2.53 GHz Intel Core i5, 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 256 MB. I cracked the screen recently but it appeared as though no damage was to the display just the outside glass. Yesterday I tried turning my computer on and the screen started flickering so I turned it off, Upon trying to turn it on again the computer made the startup noise then the screen just stayed black, with the computer beeping loudly three times every five seconds. I looked it up on google and it said it was a RAM problem so i opened it up and took out the RAM cleaned it, and tried again still same problem. However, today i did a PRAM reset by holding command, option,p,r, and its working now it turned back on. However now there is a new problem. The screen display has red and black swirls that look like a trippy visuals. Is this a hardware issue that i can fix myself? Could part of the screen be disconnected in the hardware? any help would be appreciated on how to fix this. I included pictures, thank you! need help

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

I suggest that you make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar for a free evaluation. They should be able to define the problem so that you know what has to be done. They may offer a repair quote which you do not have to accept.

My guess is that the display assembly will have to be replaced. Look at the iFixit.com and Powerbookmedic.com for parts and instructions.

Ciao.
