why does my macbook pro 2010 heat up so quickly

Never had any problems with my MacBook 2010 until recently when I noticed the underside of my laptop heats up very quickly and to a staggering heat! It's too hot for a laptop!
Also does anyone else's Google Chrome randomly shut down without warning? If so, is there anyway I can fix this?!
