Error code (5) when trying to restore iPhone 5 in DFU mode

Hi I attempted to restore my iPhone 5 (model a1533) to factory settings and update to the newest version of iTunes (8.4 I believe). However, I received an error message that the iPhone could not be restored. I entered the phone into DFU mode and attempted the restore again. However, after the process finishes the "extracting software" step, I repeatedly receive the error message "The iPhone 'iPhone' could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (5)."

I have tried using several different USB cables, have deleted and redownloaded the iOS software update, and have updated iTunes. The phone has not been in a LifeProof since i got it and has not received any damage of any kind over the years. I cannot find anything online about error code 5.

Any tips or ideas??
