Horizontal lines appearing in printed version of Pages document, but not on screen

In my Pages document , horizontal lines are appearing randomly , only when I print the document.

The horizontal lines are not visible in the document on the computer, even though I have "invisibles" turned on.

This started after I started placing some text in Bold and underlining some things, but the horizontal lines do not always appear on the pages where things are underlined.

Can anyone help ?

Note: I am using Pages 5.5.3

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

Printed the document before with no lines — was this before or after the Yosemite 10.10.4 update? What template are you using in this document, and is it an original Pages v5.5.3 template, from Pages '09, or a Word template?

What happens if you export to PDF? Do you see any lines in the PDF for the prior afflicted pages? Do you know someone that has OS X 10.10.4 and a different printer that you can print this PDF (or your Pages v5.5.3 document) too? If so, are the lines reproduced on that different printer hardware?

The document was printed with no lines on the same day.... I noticed these lines after I had made some other text bold and underlined.

The document I am working on was copied from a Pages '09 document that I created last year. I have modified the new document extensively over the last 2 months with no issues. These new lines did not appear until yesterday ... I must have hit something in the formatting??? or something ,to cause this, I just can't figure out what I did. Especially since nothing shows on the computer screen, only in the print version.

I did export the document to a PDF format, but the lines show there as well.

I have sent the PDF file to a local printer to get a draft booklet printed.

Not much more that I can offer. The answer is in your document where the lines occur, and coincident with formatting in that location. It could even be something randomly incompatible in the underlying Pages '09 template that Pages v5.5.3 doesn't get right.

You also might backup this particular version of the document, and then using the File menu ▸ Revert To ▸ Browse All Versions… back up in document time to a date where the lines did not occur, and then restore that version. This will be complicated by the invisible nature of the line artifact in your document.

Pages '09 v4.3 works on Yosemite, and if you have it (possibly in Applications/iWork '09), you may find yourself more productive than wrestling with Pages v5.5.3 — which has 100+ fewer features. Current Pages v5.5.3 documents would export to Pages '09 for backward compatibility.
