Hi - I am being plagued by this problem where my screen will freeze, move from side-to-side and I have no control over it until it stops. Does anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to stop it? I have had the problem before but did not save the answer. Help!
I am running a new iMac, with up to date Yosemite and I have a second monitor - Cinema Display.

This possible solution doesn't quite fit the symptoms as you describe but it's worth trying before you proceed further.
System Preferences>Accessibility>Zoom and make sure all checkboxes are unchecked.
I had this problem for some time. Have upgraded to El Capitan .... continued. I have been using Avast as anti virus program and decided that I would switch to Avira --- since I installed this anti virus program about a week ago, I have not had the problem. Could there be some programs which cause conflicts with others resulting in the screen problem, moving side to side?
Yes. Avast has caused problems for some people. I would uninstall it. At this time, Macs do not need anti-virus programs and they often tend to interfere with normal computer operation.
You are entitled to 90 day telephone support from Apple. Try contacting them.

so far have not experienced any further screen problems nor any obvious ones since install of Avira - maybe no harm in keeping Avira? or not?
If you to keep it and it isn't causing any problems, you can keep it. If the computer starts acting up, then remove it.
Check your apps. one app. may be conflicting - maybe try uninstalling one at a time and see if any of them prove to be the culprit!
