Is it possible to get ram at a higher speed for this mac pro? Will that work?
Im interested in upgrading my ram from 8 gigs to 32. Wondering what the highest speed is for the ram.

You cannot use RAM with specs different from those set forth for your model.
| Maximum Memory | 48 GB (Quad-Core Actual) 128 GB (8- and 12-Core Actual) 32 GB (Quad-Core Apple) 64 GB (8- and 12-Core Apple) |
|---|---|
| Memory Slots | 4 (Quad-Core) or 8 (8- and 12-Core) - 240-pin PC3-10600E (1333 MHz) DDR3 ECC SDRAM (memory speed for certain configurations is 1066 MHz) |
Using memory rated at a higher speed won't run any faster than your memory bus supports which is 1333 MHz, so there's little point in using faster rated RAM.
Based on other posts in this forum it depends upon the specific memory. Sometimes a faster speed memory works and sometimes it does not.
