how do I copy a google search link in safari ?

Hi everybody,

yesterday I had to show some pics of my country to an american friend. To make it quick, I just went to safari bar, searched for "my country" and then click on "images" inside google web page.

Then I would have liked to copy/paste directly the link, but, what I pasted was just "my country", the two words without any link.

Therefore, I tried the button "share", but again I couldn't pick directly "copy this link", instead I had to select "messages" and finally manually copy/paste the link.

Why ? Could you just tell me the logic behind this ? I promise, I will swallow it without one more word.

This is the kind of things, like the fact of "can't be asked where to save things", that make people love google chrome and hate safari.

The copy/paste link works every time you are in a web site, why just not for a google "search" page ?

Just tell me please.

A couple ways you may find a typed image search URL, or a pasted base URL and manually typed search terms useful:

1. Messages. With the typed URL converted to a clickable link by Messages, use Quick Look to preview the image search. With the cursor over the link, use a three finger tap on a trackpad to view. If a preview window doesn't open, navigate to  > System Preferences > Trackpad > Point & Click and select Look Up.

The content in the preview window is scrollable and clickable. Using Google Images, you can click on an image to see a larger preview, or any of the adjacent related images. You can also click on the left and right navigation arrow buttons to move through the photos. Drag a larger preview photo from the Quick Look window into Messages to send to someone. If you Double-click a photo or link it will open in your default web browser.

2. Mail. Use a typed URL and Quick Look as above when composing a new message.

If not selected, enable Smart Links from Mail's menu bar by navigating to Edit > Substitutions and select Smart Links. If you need to convert the typed URL to a link manually, highlight the URL text, press the Command-C keys to copy, press the Command-K keys, and press the Command-V keys to paste the URL in the drop-down text box. Click OK. If something goes awry, for instance the link is disjointed, highlight, Control-click it, navigate to Link > Remove Link and click. Follow the instructions above to convert to a link again.

Try typing the URL. The syntax is straightforward. You can share a link without opening a web browser or the need to copy and paste via the URL bar. The typed URL will be shorter, more manageable, and without tracking codes attached. A typed URL will be automatically converted into a clickable link by most sharing services. For image search, the link will take you directly to the image search results page.

For instance, assuming images of Spain is your search criteria, the typed URLs (converted into clickable links) for Google and Bing:

http://www.google.com/images?q=spain

http://www.bing.com/images?q=spain

To add a search term, use a plus sign:

http://www.google.com/images?q=spain+beaches

http://www.bing.com/images?q=spain+beaches

And so on:

http://www.google.com/images?q=spain+beaches+sunset

http://www.bing.com/images?q=spain+beaches+sunset

http://www.google.com/images?q=raining+cats+dogs

http://www.bing.com/images?q=raining+cats+dogs

If you use a clipboard manager, you can save the base URL to paste and add your search terms manually:

http://www.google.com/images?q=

http://www.bing.com/images?q=
