Can I use an ATT iPhone 6 on Verizon's network? If so, How?

I was told by a cell phone repair company that I could pay to have my ATT iPhone 6 unlocked so it could be used on my Verizon account. Is this true? If so, then how do I go about doing this?

iPhone 6, iOS 8.4

Ok Meg. I don't want to get into an argument with you, but you do not have to "flash" the phone. It is very straight forward, no messing with the software, no jailbreaking. Put a Sprint iphone 4 MEID into the website I mentioned, and you will see it is supported. you will get a slightly different message though, probably because this is a CDMA device only. Here is the message:

"Your device is eligible for customizing a new Verizon Plan or adding to an existing plan."

If you put in a device that is not compatible with the network, for example, an ATT iphone 4, you will get the following message:

The phone associated with the Device ID you entered is not compatible with the Verizon Wireless network.

So far, the website has been accurate as to which devices are able to activate, and function without issues, from my personal experience. I have probably tried 50-60 phones on that website so far, and tested the fundamental features out. I only speak in "matter of fact" ways when I have personally been successful at doing something..more then one time! So you can believe what you want, Two years ago, I activated two Sprint iphone 4 on the Verizon network, and one last year. They "officially" did accept the phones. NO FLASHING! So you can take it for what it is worth. :-)

Here is a bit of advice to anyone. When you call a "company" always remember, that you are not talking to that company, but you are talking to an individual. Companies have rules, and policies, but the "official" policy of the moment comes from the person on the other end of the line. Call back, talk to someone else, and the "official" policy can change. You are not calling Verizon, you are calling a person, so the answers can vary widely!

I understand you think you know more than the rest of us. However, I've done the experiment with attempting to activate non-Verizon phones on Verizon's network far more times than you have. So, yes, I take what you say for exactly what it's worth.

For anyone else reading: the ONLY non- Verizon phones, at the time of this writing, that Verizon supports are the unlocked iPhone 6, 6+ and Nexus 7. Anything else, will, at best, work in only a limited fashion and only on the 4G LTE network, not on CDMA.

My apologies Meg. I am sorry, but I didn't realize that your unsuccessful attempts, trump my successful triumphs. I am taking notes. Next time, I will just listen to what everyone says, and follow like a good sheep, rather then asking questions about how someone did something, and finding out the truth. Thanks for the education. I am writing a book. I will make sure to put this example in it. :-)

I only commented on this original post, because I found it looking for something else. I thought I would provide input, and answer, and it appears the OP got it done by the help of my answer. But then you chimed in with incorrect information, so I had to reply. This is why I don't normally address these forums, because its pointless trying to convince someone of the truth, if they have blinders on. It even sounds like you work for Verizon or have in the past. Good luck to you in your future. In the meantime, I will continue to buy Sprint phones a lot cheaper then Verizon ones, and then activate them on the Verizon network.

I bought a 4s for Sprint prepaid from Ebay and according to the Verizon website

The phone associated with the Device ID you entered is not compatible with the Verizon Wireless network.

I called Sprint and after giving them my MEID, they gave me a six-digit "unlock code" but no instructions on how or where to enter this code.

Did they just give me an unlock code for international SIM usage?

Do I have to call them back or go to a store to have it unlocked so it would work on Verizon?

Thanks.

The ONLY iPhones from other carriers that Verizon will activate at this time are the iPhone 6 and the 6+. Whether or not your Sprint phone is unlocked is irrelevant as it is not a 4G phone. It could only work on Verizon's CDMA network and they won't load the IMEI into their database so it's not going to activate. Sorry.

iPhones are not unlocked with "unlock codes". So whoever gave it to you was totally incompetent. There is no place to enter it. To unlock an iPhone the CARRIER (meaning Sprint) must notify Apple that the phone should be unlocked. However, this is not important; see Meg's post.

I rarely if ever post to forums, but I wanted to weigh in on this. My iPhone6 was purchased from AT&T and I wanted to move it to Verizon. I did have to call AT&T to get it unlocked - this is very important, because it won't work if you don't get AT&T to unlock it. Once it was unlocked, I got a virgin SIM from Verizon, booted up the phone and it acted like it was trying to connect but then went to "No Service". I tried several different scenarios all of which involved powering the phone down with the SIM in. I called Verizon to ask them to help in the activation and the very nice customer service rep tried everything to get it to boot, but it wouldn't. She then checked her database and informed me that there was "no way" my particular phone would work on their network. In my frustration, I started to look around and I found this thread. As I was reading one of the posts, I wanted to check the number on the virgin SIM and instead of going into the iPhone>Settings, I just popped the SIM out of the phone WHILE IT WAS BOOTED UP. After getting the number, I shoved the SIM back in and all the sudden the phone joined the Verizon network with no problem. So for me, all my problems were solved by simply removing the SIM and putting it back in while the phone was ON.
