Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit Installation Error

Hi Everyone!!!

This post is regarding the installation of Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit

I tried installing Windows 7 Pro ( 64 Bit ) On my Mac running the latest version of Mac OS X Yosemite.

I used Bootcamp Assistant and followed all the steps. Creating the .iso file , windows support software and also made a 150GB Partition.

Note that I have the ORIGINAL Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit Software Installation Disc. I did NOT use any counterfeit version of Windows or any other third party software for the installation of Microsoft windows.

I used the Apple USB Superdrive to get the .iso file from the disc and did the installation steps.

Now , Windows.

While installing windows , I found that I had to format the partition that bootcamp had created for windows . That went well.

I installed windows and when my Mac reboots , I get this error saying that Windows was not able to start up. Because " Windows could verify the digital signature of the file " -- \windows\system32\drivers\AppleSSD.sys " error code - 0xc0000428 . I don't know HOW this happens and I have tried installing windows about 4-5 times now and every time , I get that annoying error despite BOOTCAMP downloading the Windows Support Files.

FYI , My Trackpad and Keyboard work Perfectly

When using Bootcamp I got a message that said I had to install windows & support files later . -- Could this be the problem??

If so , then how do I install the "support files" ?

I would really appreciate it if some one could help me out on this.

Thanks a Bunch!!!

Matt

Thanks for reposting and thanks to CofC-Tech for the solution. It worked today on a MacBook Pro 15" Retina (Mid 2014) with High Sierra OS during Windows 7 Pro installation. Although Paragon was never needed since the Windows partition was available from the Mac OS using Finder App. Thus, allowing deletion of the AppleSSD.sys file and also, setup.exe from BootCamp USB ran automatically upon Windows installation ending. Again, thanks.

I am having the same problem as well.

Previously I am using win7 Home Premium in bootcamp and it installed fine.

Afterwards I deleted the whole partition and installed win10. When I decided to revert back to win7 with the exact same iso I used before. I was getting problem with the AppleSSD.sys as well.

Seems like it is a new problem after Win10 rollout.

Matt any luck yet?

Exact same issue, contacted Apple- the first guy I chatted with seemed to have an idea, but we got disconnected during the second install, the second guy had no clue and referred me to Microsoft... who have absolutely no clue whatsoever. Still explaining the issue after one hour 😐

First guy mentioned that it's the driver, not the installation that seems to be the issue, since it seems to install fine.

Only difference is, I got my .iso from the Microsoft website instead of from the disc, as it seemed easier- but reading this, it makes no difference. I also don't recall getting a message about installing windows/support files later, so I doubt that's the problem.

Help would be very much appreciated from my side as well!

I used an ISO file as well. And it get me a great deal of trouble to install before seeing this problem

Either it says that it cannot detect any bootable devices, or its after loading the files, it cannot load any drivers.

Not sure are they related, but did you guys experience the same thing as well?

Same problem here! Switched out a hard drive on my 2012 Mac Mini. Decided to do a brand new install so I prepared, using Boot Camp Assistant, a new install USB drive. After the install, I get the same error. I'm talking it worked yesterday and doesn't work today. How is that possible!

Hey guys user CofC-Tech solved this for us in another forum so I thought I'd just post it here.

  1. Restart, boot to Mac OSX
  2. Install the trial of Paragon NTFS. Restart and boot to Mac OSX again.
  3. Navigate to BOOTCAMP/Windows/System32/Drivers
  4. DELETE AppleSSD.sys
  5. Restart and boot to Windows

Cheers!

Remember, once you get into windows to go into your USB flash drive and click the setup.exe to install all the drivers so that everything works.

When you're in windows navigate to your USB flash drive and click the setup.exe (the one inside the Bootcamp folder) to install all the drivers so that everything works.

If you get an error "This version of Boot Camp doesn't work with this computer" it's not a big deal. Just go into the driver folder and manually click them.

You won't need all the drivers (if your machine has an NVIDIA graphics card you'll only need to install the NVIDIA drivers and not the AMD drivers)

From OS X -> Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal, start a new Terminal window and type the highlighted commands.

cd /Volumes/BOOTCAMP/Windows/System32/Drivers

ls -lt vmbus.sys

-rwxr-xr-x 1 MyName staff 97088 Aug 22 2013 vmbus.sys

Find the specific file you need to delete. You must have Paragon NTFS for Mac installed for the delete operation to succeed.
