Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit Installation Error

Hi Everyone!!!

This post is regarding the installation of Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit

I tried installing Windows 7 Pro ( 64 Bit ) On my Mac running the latest version of Mac OS X Yosemite.

I used Bootcamp Assistant and followed all the steps. Creating the .iso file , windows support software and also made a 150GB Partition.

Note that I have the ORIGINAL Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit Software Installation Disc. I did NOT use any counterfeit version of Windows or any other third party software for the installation of Microsoft windows.

I used the Apple USB Superdrive to get the .iso file from the disc and did the installation steps.

Now , Windows.

While installing windows , I found that I had to format the partition that bootcamp had created for windows . That went well.

I installed windows and when my Mac reboots , I get this error saying that Windows was not able to start up. Because " Windows could verify the digital signature of the file " -- \windows\system32\drivers\AppleSSD.sys " error code - 0xc0000428 . I don't know HOW this happens and I have tried installing windows about 4-5 times now and every time , I get that annoying error despite BOOTCAMP downloading the Windows Support Files.

FYI , My Trackpad and Keyboard work Perfectly

When using Bootcamp I got a message that said I had to install windows & support files later . -- Could this be the problem??

If so , then how do I install the "support files" ?

I would really appreciate it if some one could help me out on this.

Thanks a Bunch!!!

Matt

One major problem with Windows 10, because I have done clean INSTALL (BOOTCAMP) I have the key that was generated after I have done Windows 7 upgrade. That key does not work even it is the KEY that is on Windows 10 on Parallels. There are many people with this problem. Microsoft wants you to buy a new key.

It is scam this Windows 10 upgrade. It is working very well on BootCamp (Windows 10 pro) but without activation I think I will delete it and use Windows 10 that is running on Parallels.

OR

Down grade to Windows 8.1 ENT on BootCamp.

The order of activation matters. Upgrade W7 to W10 in Bootcamp and activate it in BC first. Once activated in BC, then activate it in Parallels. The M$ servers have the original signatures from BC in their re-installation/re-activation backends, so a clean re-install works. If Parallels is done first, the virtual hardware is registered. Parallels generates the virtual hardware signature for every installation which never matches the M$ information, which M$ considers "piracy". You can always call M$ on the phone and get this worked out.

W10, if working properly, should be a native BC installation with license. Parallels should be the re-activated.

I have no issues on Parallels at all, I have done an upgrade from Windows 7 - 10 and it is activated. The issues is in BootCamp because you can't do an upgrade from Windows 7 - 10 that fails. Then I have done clean install on BootCamp and it is working no issues BUT the activation is the one that is failing.

For me this is just a toy on BootCamp I don't really need it I was just doing a TEST DRIVE. I will install Windows 8.1 Enterprice which you can't do upgrade BootCamp.

I am also very aware of the order of upgrading, I was part of Windows 10 testing group. The difference with Apple and Microsoft is that MS is learning this "FREE UPGRADE" story. Apple has done it before.

The activation fails because the product key is tied to the first activation of the upgrade, which Parallels/W10. If it is a toy it should be fun. If you plan to roll back to W8.1 Enterprise, it is much more stable.

Apple also has the App Store, unlike the Microsoft/Google/? players who are late to such a paradigm.

Hi all and thanks Loner T for you help.

Of course I have the same problem (go back to Windows 7 to upgrade for free to Windows 10). On my second day of troubles I found this forum and I hope to close this issue.

I have seen the image of your usb pen directory however to me is not clear if I have to copy all the "Bootcamp 5" as it is fonder on the usb pen or if I have to copy the folder "Bootcamp 5" and then substitute the single files too.

From the image that you uploaded I see that you just copied the "Bootcamp 5" folder, however I see that some files (AppleSSD64) are not actually on my usb pen.

Can I ask you please you to clarify if I am wrong.

Many thanks

download the files from windows software pack version 5, it is a zip file so double click and it will open then open that file go to your already prepared thumb drive, and copy the version 5 files to the root, it will ask you if you want to merge or replace, REPLACE them after this is finished you can install windows 7 as usual. I had the problem with the USB drivers so in the end had to download windows 8.1 then everything worked fine. plenty of info now here on this thread. Success 😉

Hello,

I have tried to follow vmps' instructions exactly, but am still struggling to get boot camp tools to run on windows. I have fully installed windows and the keyboard and mouse are working. However, there is no left click for the trackpad, and no wifi to get a connection to the internet. No bootcamp listed in control panel or within program files.

I downloaded the BootCamp5.1.5621 and tried to install, but I get an error saying "The version of boot camp is not intended for this model."

Step 9 listed in vmps' instructions never happened. Figured that I had to install bootcamp after windows completely installed, still can't get the applet to work though. Any suggestions?

Oh and AppleSSD.sys did the same thing for me, got the same error about not being able to recognize the file. Deleted it and was able to install windows completely.

I had experienced the same problem after resetting my Macbook Air and then attemtping to re-install W7 in Bootcamp. The default bootcamp assistant download returns an error message, so I had to download an older version which did boot the W7 desktop, but without drivers for sound and wifi. I did however have USB functionality, from this I was able to insert the USB stick with the BCSS on it to locate the Apple drivers set up. The sequence is 'bootcamp' > 'set-up'. This manual fix worked fine for me. Clearly there is an issue with bootcamp arising from the W10 calibration which requires fixing as its causing a lot of confusion for those of us with a copy of W7. Hope this helps.

I Have the exact same error, except i can't go back to OSX, there is no option for this and when I press escape, everything just freezes... I'm practically stuck, this is also my first time so I can't do the last known good config. That just brings me back to the failed to start. "A recent hardware or software change might be the cause, digital signature," blah blah blah... Please help anyone, it would mean so much.

Thanks 🙂
