iTunes 12.2.2.25 - Purchased (but not downloaded) songs now appear in Smart Playlists

Since iTunes 12.2.2.25, suddenly an iCloud column has appeared in my Playlists view, and songs that I previously purchased are showing as downloadable (but I don't want to download them thanks very much, go away!). I can hide them from the main Music list view (by going to View > Only Music Available Offline), however all my Smart Playlists have the iCloud songs showing by default, and that menu command is not available. Can't figure out how to hide them. There is nothing in Preferences > Store which is relevant. Any ideas please?

To the 21 people (at time of this post) who have this same question... I tweeted Kirk McElhearn the iTunes Guy, and he responded by sending me the link to this article he wrote on the topic:

It still hasn't answered my question on how to make the previous purchases in Playlists, I have posted a comment on his page and will update here if I find out more. Cheers JD

Here's what Apple told me (glad I've got extended AppleCare), it has worked. Basically you need to delete all the cloud songs so they don't appear in the Playlists.

1) Select Music Library in the sidebar.

2) View > All Music

3) Click on the Cloud icon column to sort songs by that. (If you don't see the cloud column heading, right click in the column headings and tick "iCloud Download" to make it appear. Sort so that your cloud tracks appear at the top.

4) Select all your cloud tracks (or just select the ones you don't want to appear).

5) Delete!

6) Go back to your Smart Playlist, the cloud songs will have disappeared.
