itunes has 6378 songs. ipod has 6297 songs

Using Itunes 12.1.2. Using Windows 10 PC. ipod classic 80gb version 1.1.2 PC. Itunes has 6378 songs. Yet the iPod has 6297. Why the difference?

It seems like itunes synchronizes same 35 songs. ???

I believe there is a way to erase the ipod and synchronize again.

Help!

Repeated syncs of the same songs may indicate duplicates in the source library. See How do I eliminate duplicate songs?
