I got SSD for my macbook pro (dual boot with windows 10), and I am trying to set it as AHCI.
I saw in forums that macs do not have bios and would like to ask how to swith the disc to AHCI mode.
Here is description how to do it when there is BIOS but how it is done on mac without bios.

Thank you for your reply. I was just trying to make sure that this was the case as I'm trying to install Linux and the install doesn't recognize my hard drive. I asked on the Linux forums and they said to turn AHCI on so I wanted to make sure it was already on first before trying anything else.
After applying these steps the AHCI is activated!
This fixed the problem. The forum does not allow to select it as best answer.
Macs do not have preset AHCI mode!

There is no need to set the drive or anything else.
Samsung magician the software that came with the SSDdisc is saying
"deactivated (IDE or RAID)
AHCI mode is required for best performance".
I understand it as not activated.
All Mac hardware use AHCI by default. There is nothing to set.
I am not sure if it is AHCI or SATA ? Samsung magician is seeing it as IDE or RAID ?
Do the 2017 Macbooks have AHCI enabled automatically?
You woke up a sleeping Lion from two years ago. 😉 . AHCI is enabled. In most cases, the issue stems from third-party SSDs replacing Apple originals on older SATA Macs. The 2017s should be NVMe.
Turning on AHCI may not be a solution. Which distribution of Linux? Does it support EFI Boot?
It's Kali Linux. I installed rEFInd.
