Forget about all these "old" procedures in GarageBand 11, they don't work anymore. Now in GarageBand X it is more restrictive but at the same time more simple. Welcome Patches, your new cross-app friend:
In Logic
- Create your EXS Instrument to your liking even with the Audio FX Plugins and MIDI FX Plugins
- Save your Channel Strip as a User Patch in the Library Window, i.e. My "EXS Patch"
- Done
In GarageBand
GarageBand and Logic share many things, including the Patches (system and user)
- Open the Library Window
- Go to the User Patches and select your "EXS Patch"
- Voila, there is your EXS Instrument playable in GarageBand
- You can't edit the EXS24, but at least the Audio FX Plugins
Hope that helps
