How do I use EXS24 instruments in Garageband X? (It was possible for the older versions)

Hello everyone,

Found this article on the internet, but it's for the old version of Garageband.

Does anyone know how to do this on Garageband X?

I have Mainstage, and using autosampler and 3rd party EXS24 samples, I think I could greatly expand garageband, too.

Thanks in advance, and cheers!

Forget about all these "old" procedures in GarageBand 11, they don't work anymore. Now in GarageBand X it is more restrictive but at the same time more simple. Welcome Patches, your new cross-app friend:

In Logic

  • Create your EXS Instrument to your liking even with the Audio FX Plugins and MIDI FX Plugins
  • Save your Channel Strip as a User Patch in the Library Window, i.e. My "EXS Patch"
  • Done

In GarageBand

GarageBand and Logic share many things, including the Patches (system and user)

  • Open the Library Window
  • Go to the User Patches and select your "EXS Patch"
  • Voila, there is your EXS Instrument playable in GarageBand
  • You can't edit the EXS24, but at least the Audio FX Plugins

Hope that helps
