Is iCloud compatible with Outlook 2016?

Oh wow! I finally found a quick way to uninstall 2016 and reinstall 2013. I just now got icloud to show up in Outlook again (and that took a bunch of fiddling around with restarts and all. UGH! )

I'm going to try this new work-around another day when I'm have more energy and patience.

Let's see if we can fix it by making changes to registry or installing the right architect of office. What architect of Windows (32 or 64) and Office (32 or 64) are you using?

Note that on 64bit Windows systems that has office 365 64bit, when you update to 2016, it installs 32 bit by default. So to check the office, see if your office files are in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16 or C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16.

x64 Windows 8.1 Enterprise

iCloud for Windowns only ever supported x86 office anyway, stupidly

Also can I suggest that when posting about this problem, that you include whatt version of the affected programs you are using:

ie:

Windows version (10 or other - home / enterprise/ pro or other)

Windows Outlook version (2016 or other - part of Office Suite or stand alone and if on 365 subscription or not)

iCloud version

It may help to narrow down why some people are managing to get a work-around and others aren't - just a thought.

Basically, that's all I want if for - Outlook to ICloud and that's it. I tried that Open Protocol Connector and I couldn't get it to work. It added the new calendar to Outlook but never updated ICloud calendar. I access my ICloud calendar through www.icloud.com. I didn't get any buttons in outlook that said refresh from server or update folders. When looking at the accounts in the trust center, the open protocol was there. I don't know why it didn't work. Any ideas?

To keep this thread busy and to document how strong pain is but how people try to find work arounds for a major disconnect of the the two largest software eco systems, here is another idea I tried w/o success so far unfortunately.

I once had Owncloud on a Raspberry PI on my DSL router @home to sync Contacts and Calendar via the tool:

It worked so far so good, but was not 100% reliable/compatible, basically because the Ownclouds performance on the Raspberry was quite weak.

Thats why I decided to move to iCloud, which worked perfectly until Office 2016😠

I just gave the Outlook pluging from Bynari another try, but it was unable to discover the iclouds CalDav/CarDav servers at contacts.icloud.com and caldav.icloud.com. If anyone has time to play and finds how to get this work, it could become a real attractive interim solution.

I thought I would add to my earlier post, where I reported success with a workaround on Win 10 Pro 64 bit plus Office 2016. I have now tried the same thing on a fresh Windows 10 (Home edition, 32 bit) / Office 2016 install on my laptop, and unfortunately, as others have found, it didn't work. I'm not an IT professional but the fact that I and others have managed to get iCloud to work with Outlook 2016 in some Windows configurations must surely mean that whatever tweaks Apple needs to make to iCloud for Windows must be pretty simple, making it all the more frustrating that they are taking so long to do it (assuming they are actually doing anything at all!). In the meantime, maybe some IT geek reading this can find a registry hack or something that will provide a temporary fix for all users.

I have this same problem and it is driving me a little nuts. I am looking for a workaround and thought I had put something together using 'Outlook app for iOS' (iPhone and iPad). But the app does not work with POP3 accounts. I don't want to lost by folders in my Outlook Desktop (Personal Folders) or the easy access to my old mail from these account (4). This problem is showing as resolved. I don't see any solution just many of us asking for a FIX to the several issues with Office 2016 for PC, its Outlook 2016 and the using of a connector of some sort to sync mail, contacts, calendars, notes, tasks with the Apple devices using version 9 and Windows 10. It is then the issue of the POP3 accounts that cannot be managed for the iPhone / iPad. We need a real and proper fix of these problems that are eating up valuable time trying to make is work somehow and currently be so inefficient.

C'mon you techies at Apple - At least give us a comment regarding this problem. Is it fixable? Can you fix it? Are you going to fix it? If so when?

Have been trying to change the iCloud.exe properties on Windows 10 to run in Compatibility Mode, first with Win 8 and now trying with Win 7 ... not sure if this will work but will keep folks posted.

iCloud 5.0 for Windows is out today. Unfortunately it explicitly says it does not support Outlook 2016.
