Is iCloud compatible with Outlook 2016?

I've installed Windows 10 and Office 2016. I also installed iCloud and every time I try to access it and synch with my Outlook 2016, a window pops up and says top Repair iCloud installation, then Restart. I've done this twice but still no go.

Is Outlook 2016 too new??? Or is it Windows 10???

I have been working with Microsoft for over 2 months trying to resolve this. They say it is specific to Office 2016 and more specifically to Office 2016 that is downloaded from Office 365. I have been following a thread in Microsoft on this issue (will post below.) The thread seems to indicate that there is now a resolution but unfortunately again today, near all day on the phone with Microsoft and still not working.

Yes indeed--I have recently encountered this problem on my laptop--although the Windows 10 error ID is 1001 rather than 1000 as shown in the link to Microsoft's non-functioning "workaround" in the link provided above by MulanHank.

What is really odd is that my laptop and work desktop both have identical versions of Windows 10, Office365, and iCloud. iCloud (so far!) is working flawlessly on the desktop but stopped working on my laptop just under a month ago and now has the problem discussed at length in this thread. How bizarre!

Yesterday I went to talk to a couple of techs at the help desk at our university. At the end of a very long session one of them asked if I had completely uninstalled and reinstalled Office. I replied that I had not because, after at least five online repairs, the problem was not resolved and because I didn’t want to get involved in a lot of reconfiguration issues for nothing.

When I got home I decided to try completely uninstalling and reinstalling Office365. To my great surprise, after I did this, the iCloud installation worked fine after I did a repair through “Programs and Features” in Control Panel. A secondary surprise was that Office stored all my settings and reused them after my reinstall — two unexpected pleasant surprises!

I have the same issue with Windows 8.1 and Outlook 2016. Try many things, installed both software (outlook and Icloud) many times, made a brand new pst file, all this from a fresh Windows 8,1 installation.

I have set my Hotmail account as the default calendar on my phone and added my hotmail account in my personal OUtlook. It is the best solution I found so far.

I seem to remember seeing somewhere that the 64bit version of Office has issues with iCloud. I've been told there is very little value in the 64bit version vs. the 32bit version. I just built a new machine with Windows 10 and everything is 64bit EXCEPT my installation of Office 2013 Pro. I purposely installed the 32 bit version because of heard of this issue.
