Facetime Mac to Mac sound cutting out

When I receive or make a call using Facetime the audio constantly have cutouts.

What works:

- From Facetime iOS to Facetime Mac there's no audio issues.

- From Facetime Mac to Mac when I connect headphones.

- Skype.

Tried reinstalling, erasing preferences, repairing permissions, etc. Audio input and output hardware works perfect.

Any clue?

I'd like to chime in on this one.

it seems there's no bi-directional audio possible on a videocall when I:

-Facetime from iMac (2011) to iMac (2012), also the video seems SD (or higher than normal compression)

it's two broadband cable connections so I wonder what's the problem?
