Make Apple Watch mirror iPhone Notification sounds

My Apple Watch and iPhone 6 both make different noises for texts, emails and calendar events and it can be really confusing.

I know the glass tone is my text sound, the ding tone is my email sound, and chord tone is my calendar event sound.

On my Watch, when I get a text, it sounds kinda like the glass tone, an email sounds exactly like the glass tone, and the calendar is some other sound.

Essentially, how do I get them to match?

My problem is that I never notice the vibration or sound on my Watch as I work in a busy outdoor environment. I had my phone set to play loud obnoxious sounds for a text for example so I couldn't miss it. Now when it come through just to my watch I don't notice. This is causing many issues with my employment productivity. If someone from my team is asking a question they need an answer now, not 15 minutes from now when I look at my watch. How do I get sound back to my iPhone?

You can turn off wrist detection in the Watch app. There is a downside, though. You will need to enter a passcode to do much more than see the time on your watch and you won't be able to use Apple Pay on your watch.

This is IMHO not a great solution. What I want to have happen is for my notification sound to play on my iphone and be able to then view messages etc on either my watch or phone, without losing functionality on my watch. turning off wrist detection, as you point out diminishes the functionality.

You can change your iPhone sounds (Settings > Sounds) to make them more similar to the Apple Watch sounds, but not the other way around.

Any idea how I determine what sounds the Watch is using?

I'm hesitant to change the watch sounds - I've become pretty familiar with the stock iPhone noises. 😐

Whenever you select a new sound on your iPhone (in Settings > Sounds), it is played immediately, so you can listen to each of them before settling on a decision for each type of alert. It won't take long to test all the choices.

You can't change the sounds that the Apple Watch makes at this time. I'm a big fan of custom text alerts for different people and really miss that on my Apple Watch.
