Direct download of Boot Camp 6 drivers

Hi!

It looks like Apple has gone in the incorrect direction. I am in the need of a direct download of the Boot Camp 6 drivers because the Boot Camp Assistant is always telling me that it cannot download the driver to any of my 6 pen drives or 2 external hard disks because of "an error." There is no specific detail about the error, so I cannot troubleshoot a thing.

This is not the first time that I try to or successfully create bootable USB flash drives with the Boot Camp Assistant, and I know how the drives must be formatted, space requirements, etc..., so that can be taken out of the equation. Bottom line, I am stuck; I cannot get the latest drivers to load them in Windows 10, which was installed with the standard set of drivers from Microsoft.

APPLE, WHY AREN'T YOU PROVIDING A DIRECT LINK FOR THOSE DRIVERS?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Please use an ethernet (wired) connection, if possible. From the OS X side, you can try

Please use Brigadier (https://github.com/timsutton/brigadier). It is much more reliable than specific links, which can become stale very quickly. Here is an example of using it on the OSX side. I do not recommend using it on the Windows side.

MyName-rmbp:brigadier-master MyName$ ./brigadier -h

Usage: brigadier [options]

Options:

-h, --help show this help message and exit

-m MODEL, --model=MODEL

System model identifier to use (otherwise this

machine's model is used). This can be specified

multiple times to download multiple models in a single

run.

-i, --install After the installer is downloaded, perform the install

automatically. Can be used on Windows only.

-o OUTPUT_DIR, --output-dir=OUTPUT_DIR

Base path where the installer files will be extracted

into a folder named after the product, ie.

'BootCamp-041-1234'. Uses the current directory if

this option is omitted.

-k, --keep-files Keep the files that were downloaded/extracted. Useful

only with the '--install' option on Windows.

-p PRODUCT_ID, --product-id=PRODUCT_ID

Specify an exact product ID to download (ie.

'031-0787'), currently useful only for cases where a

model has multiple BootCamp ESDs available and is not

downloading the desired version according to the post

date.

MyName-rMBP:brigadier-master MyName$ ./brigadier -m MacBook8,1 -o Bootcamp-MacBook8,1

Output directory Bootcamp-MacBook8,1 that was specified doesn't exist!

MyName-rMBP:brigadier-master MyName$ mkdir Bootcamp-MacBook8.1

MyName-rMBP:brigadier-master MyName$ ./brigadier -m MacBook8,1 -o Bootcamp-MacBook8.1

Using Mac model: MacBook8,1.

1. Please see BootCamp 6 update not available on MacBook Pro mid 2012 with Windows 10 for the two methods supported by Apple to get BC6 drivers.

2. You can manually download BC6 drivers from Apple CDN using Brigadier (https://github.com/timsutton/brigadier) by specifying your model number available from How to identify MacBook Pro models - Apple Support .

3. Please also see Use Windows 10 on your Mac with Boot Camp - Apple Support .

HI Lones,

Thanks for taking time to reply to my message.

I ended up remembering that there is an option in the Apple Softwaree Update app that allows you to download for later installation. So, I used it and grabbed the single executable file of 1.x GB. That is what I needed. All directly from Apple without third parties involved.

Thanks again!

Apple please help us. Pretty much in the same scenario. My track pad and camera no longer works in windows 10. For some reason I need to restore Windows 10 to the default settings and doing so uninstalled Bootcamp utility, I know its Microsoft fault. But we need to reinstall the drivers manually anyway & something is not right with Bootcamp Utility in Mac as its downloading the driver like forever even in fast internet connections.

Please just provide a direct link just like the older drivers you had.

Thank you very much
