Can you make photobooks from shared albums?

Can you make a photobook from a shared album? The tools to select pictures for a photobook currently suck. Favorites don's transfer from the iPhone, and it appears I can't use a shared album either.

I was wondering how to do this as well, and (at least for me), it ended up being really easy.

1. create a new album (not shared)

2. select the shared album (in your case the one with the 800 of your photos and the 200 of other peoples)

3. select all (control + A)

4. drag all the photos into the new non-shared album you created.

It should not duplicate anything, and you should now have an album with all 1000 photos from which you can easily make a book. And, it will sort all of the photos your friends took chronologically into your photos as well.

I hope this helps, or that you already figured this out!

the favorites tag does not sync or import - If you use iCloud Photo Library it does just fine - and of course automatically gives your all of you photos on every device

and tell Apple what you want - https://www.apple.com/feedback/photos.html

Q1 - not directly - you need to use iCloud Photo library

Q2 - Yes - or use ICPL - although you still have to import each "third party" photos too use it

Q3 - probably - I have not done that - do one and see

Q4 - I am agan not aware of a way except using ICPL - for De-duping the three treated safe programs that I am aware of are

You need to give details to get help since ewe can not see you and only know wha you tell us - which at this point is simply that you have same problems you need help with

To use photos form a shared album you must import them to Photos - right click on each one and import

Other than that these in no information in your post to give us a clue as to what you problem is or how to help

Larry - thanks for the offer to help.

I just finished a 3 month trip abroad, and took about 5,000 photos. I marked about 800 as favorites on the iPhone. I also shared these 800 photos in a shared folder with some other people traveling with me. They added another 200 photos into the shared folder.

When I imported all the photos from my iPhone, none of them are marked as "favorites" in the photos app. This was somewhat frustrating in that it looks like I would have to go back through them all and re-mark them.

Q1: Is there any way to recover which of these photos had been previously marked as a "favorite" on the iPhone prior to import?

My second, and preferred, approach would be if I could create a photo book from the shared album.

Q2: It appears from your answer than I would need to go through the shared album and import each picture one at a time, is this correct?

Q3: Since about 800 of the photos in my shared album are already in my library, if I import them from the shared album, am I going to have a bunch of duplicates?

Q4: The easiest approach for me would to do a batch import of the shared folder, make sure they are all marked as "Favorites" and de-duplicate the library using third party software?

Thanks again for helping out. My goal is just to make a photo book with the
