When I include emoji or emoticons in an sms, the recipient does not receive them. I do however receive sms including emoji or emoticons. iPhone 5, updated.

Does the receiver of your message have iPhone?
I think I had the same problem when I tried to SMS some people with another phones.
What about when you try to send SMS to another iPhone?
Thnx saeed, the recipient has a Nokia. I do however receive emoticons from the Nokia. Have not checked this iphone to iphone but will do so and report back. Thnx till later, Daniel.
nothing wrong with your phone. recipient phone probably doesn't have support for what you send.
I also think that its the recipient phone. Try to send to an other iPhone user. That should work well
Thnx Doc, I'll do some testing iphone to iphone and report back to the group! btw, if it works from iphone to iphone, is this indicative of an Apple 'monopoly' on the sending of emoticons?
I'm not sure because most of the messages that I send, I use Threema or Whatsapp. :-)
