In Numbers, how do I make one cell a different size than all the rest?

How do I make one cell a different size than all the rest (and, in effect, get rid of some cells in the rows beneath the larger--read, vertically longer--cell)? I'm trying to make a class schedule.

MACBOOK AIR (11-INCH, EARLY 2015), iOS 8.4.1
