iPod touch not connecting to pc -={HELP}=-

Hello, I have an iPod touch 4th generation and are experiencing issues with data transfer. You see, when I plug both ends of the cable into my PC, it either makes the familiar ding noise or it gives me nothing but charge. When I do connect it, in the task bar a icon pops up and tells me "USB device not recognized".

Before telling me to install apple mobile device driver thingy, I can use the same laptop, the same cable and the same software to connect my 2nd gen iPod touch and transfer data.

I have searched everywhere and cannot find anything, my problem is slightly different to the rest. PLEASE HELP! :O

What version of iTunes? You need Requires iTunes version 10.7 or later.

If you have 10.7 or later then

- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic. Since different conductors/contacts are used for charging and data bad contacts can cause syncing problems but still charge.

- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

If you have iTunes 10.7 or later and you are using the same cable that works with the 2G iPod then it appears y have a hardware problem with the 4G. However, first try:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

To reset the iPod without the hardware buttons,

- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. All your wifi and bluetooth preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected. You will have to rejoin wifi networks and re-pair BT devices

That either means

- you have a software problem with the computer, or less likely, a hardware problem

- You have a bad cable

- You have a hardware problem with the iPod

Unless yo know the cable and computer works with another iPod touch, iPad or iPhone

try another cable and computer.

If still problem y have a hardware problem with the Ipod
