Need help with a disk read error occured Bootcamp and Win7

Hello All,

I'm stuck after performing a hard drive resize.

Hardware is iMac 24 wih a 2TB Segate SSDHD Hybrid drive (dont think it matters though)

partitioned as follows: mac OSX and win7 with bootcamp also there is a Recovery-10.10.3 partition

I downsized the Mac partition with disk utility in order to make the win7 partition bigger (was running out of space). After freeing up space i used

Acronis Disk Director 2011 Home that i paid for to resize the windows partition. After it did all its magic i ended up with a black screen stating

"A disk read error occured Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart"

User uploaded file

OK Apple thanks for turning the iphone pic sideways ! Lol

anyway i can see all the operating systems in bootcamp when i hold the option key while booting and i can access the windows partion read only from finder eventhough win7 will not boot.

i've gotten conflicting info that the utility damaged the boocamp settings to i need to wipe the complete drive and start over. I dont think any of that sounds correct

Any suggestions on what to check or do would be very much appreciated

TiA

This is a known issue with any partitioning tool which does not understand Hybrid MBRs and knows how to keep GPT and MBR in sync. Many have been wounded by this sword. The GPT being corrupt is one obvious side effect. Apple does not support resizing Windows due to the inability of tools to properly understand this construct. You can read more at http://www.rodsbooks.com/gdisk/hybrid.html .

Can you look at Windows partition missing from bootcamp. and use Testdisk to start a scan? Please download GPT Fdisk and post the output of the following commands. (p and q are commands used after you see Gdisk prompt).

sudo gdisk /dev/disk0

GPT fdisk (gdisk) version 1.0.0

Warning: Devices opened with shared lock will not have their

partition table automatically reloaded!

Partition table scan:

MBR: hybrid

BSD: not present

APM: not present

GPT: present

Found valid GPT with hybrid MBR; using GPT.

It may be better to post what you see on your screen.

1. Use Applications -> Utilities -> Grab to take a rectangular selection of a window or the whole window.

2. Click on Edit on the Menu Bar, click on Copy.

3. Open Applications -> Preview and click on File -> New from the Clipboard.

4. Save the file as a PNG.

5. Click on the Camera icon at the top of the reply box and select the file and post it.

In the second post, the link to another discussion will show you the types of screens that are useful.
