Question

iPhone won't play audible books through car usb port.

I reset phone, changed the cord. My iPad works fine for audible books through usb port.

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8.4.1

I see from your post that your iPhone in particular is unable to play Audible.com books through the USB port on your car's stereo system. To troubleshoot this issue I suggest going through the steps outlined below.

If you're using USB Playback

Restart your iOS device and your car.

Connect your iOS device to a different stereo USB port (if you have one).

Try a different USB cable.

Update your iOS device.

Install any firmware updates for your car stereo.

Try playing audio from a different app. If you can't play audio from a specific third-party app, contact the app developer for help. If you can't play audio from an Apple app, Contact Apple Support.

Hi Alex, thanks for your answer. I did 1-4 and amazingly, the book played, but just once. As soon as I turned off the car, I could never get it to work again. I will check with Suzuki about firmware, and I have no idea how to get an Audible book out of that app and into a different one. I tried dragging and dropping, to no effect. The simplest solution is to just keep using the iPad I guess.
