Battery Life Problems

I just got a brand new iPhone 5s two days ago, but the battery life is terrible. It was fully charged this morning and by the afternoon it was at 1%. Can anyone tell me why this is happening or what I can do? Again, it's brand new so I don't know why the battery life would be this bad! 😟
