user account applications folder

Probably a stupid question, but here it goes:

(inexperienced mac user btw)

I've noticed that some apps, after being trashed, leaves behind some "hidden" files that you have to search for to find and delete. If I were to install apps to the user account applications folder, rather than the one in the HD, would all the extra files be placed in there as well? Or is the only difference is that the app becomes only accessible to the user?

Thanks to all those who reply!

It doesn't matter; the only difference is that if an application is installed by a non-administrator, it'll need to be in the home folder, and it cannot create hidden files in system-level folders.
