You have so much third-party stuff installed I wouldn't know where to begin. My suggestion, which you will probably not like, is:

Backup your files.

Erase the drive.

Reinstall OS X from scratch.

Clean Install of Snow Leopard

Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase

the drive and everything on it.

1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came

with your computer. Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.

After the chime press and hold down the "C" key. Release the key when you see

a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.

2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue

button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.

After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive

size.) Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. Set the number of

partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button

and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended

(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.

3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed

with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.

4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup

Assistant. After you finish Setup Assistant will complete the installation after which

you will be running a fresh install of OS X. You can now begin the update process

by opening Software Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your

installation current.

Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1. Reinstall only the third-party software you actually need, and install from original media or source. Be sure they are fully compatible with 10.6.8. Some of them are not. Then restore your data from your backup.

Thanks for the idea ,but I'm not sure I can do it now. Some third party plugins are unavailable now for reinstalling.I am using my Mac to record music.Does the Etre results show anything wrong on my system? I actually use a bootable drive with Mountain Lion for my main recording work & use this just when I need to use old/unavailable plugins running on this OS.Not sure if that makes matters worse or better!

Is there anything like disk defragmentation on Mac that will be helpful? Any cleaning softwares I could use?

If I am correct, this is just an anti-malware package, and not needed. While most of the components are not loaded, there are still 3 loading. Most look like they are for other versions of Mac OS X.

In any event, unless you absolutely need this software, I would suggest removing it.

Generally speaking you do not need additional drivers for disk drive. And while none of the Seagate drivers are loaded, they are just taking up space and you might want to do some house cleaning.

[running] com.memeo.Memeod.plist [Click for support]

I'm not sure what Memeo is, but a quick Google search suggests maybe it is a backup utility. If that is a good guess, then if a backup utility is running at the wrong time, it can put a load your system that competes with your other tasks. So you might check if it is running when you are seeing performance issues.

MacFUSE [Click for support]

MacFUSE can sometimes affect a Macs performance. A lot depends on how it is being used. Is it for NTFS support, but then again you have

Paragon NTFS for Mac ® OS X [Click for support]

Sometimes MacFUSE is used to provide remote file system support over FTP or SFTP network connections. That can stress network bandwidth if it is busy doing things while you are trying to use the network yourself.

Speculation (more than what I speculated above).

Maybe you have slowly added more stuff to what you normally do, or upgraded some software that is using more and more memory and it is time to maybe add more memory (you can most likely replace the two 2GB cards with two 4GB cards). ONLY do this if after running your system for awhile (hours) and you see it is performing badly and you look at Applications -> Utilities -> Activity Monitor and see you are doing a lot of page to disk (Or look at EtreCheck output and see a high swap used value.

If you have had your disk drive for a long time, it is possible it is starting to get retry errors that are being handled by the disk, so they are not visible to Mac OS X, but each retry requires a full revolution of the disk before it can try again. Lots of retries will seriously slow down disk access.

One performance enhancing trick for older Macs is to replace the disk drive with an SSD. SSDs are getting cheaper for reasonable capacity, but it is still an expense that sometimes needs to be considered against just putting the money towards a newer Mac.
