Hi,
I recently purchased a late 2006 iMac. The iMac came with 3 GB of RAM, and an Intel Core 2 Duo clocked at 1.83 GHz. It currently is running OS X 10.7 Lion. Is it possible to upgrade it to Mavericks or maybe Yosemite? ...and if so, how can I install either Mavericks or Yosemite?

No to both, Mavericks is no longer available to anyone who has not already downloaded it, and that iMac is not compatible with Yosemite. The Yosemite compatible hardware is found at http://www.apple.com/osx/specs

Ralph, according to Mactracker, the latest that can run on a late 2006 iMac (17" or 20") is 10.7.5.....

Mountain Lion, Mavericks, and Yosemite all have the same hardware requirements - the Mac must have a full 64-bit EFI, which the 2006 does not have. So none of the three will run on that iMac. Lion is as high as you can go.
