Sep 7, 2015 8:11 AM in response to legaleye300by léonie,Photos does not have events. The library is organized by Moments, that are created automatically based on the capture date and the location.
When you migrate your iPhoto Library, Photos will save your events as albums. Look for a folder "iPhoto Events" in the sidebar with albums. For each event you will find an album with the same name as the event. To reveal the sidebar press the key combination ⌥⌘S

Sep 7, 2015 8:12 AM in response to legaleye300by LarryHN,there are no events in Photos
When you migrate your iPhoto events are converted to Albums and stored in a folder names iPhoto Events
Going forward you can simulate events going forward by importing, opening last import and selecting all and clicking the + sign and creating a new album of those Photos

Sep 7, 2015 8:18 AM in response to legaleye300by léonie,Added: Have a look at this knowledge base article: How Photos handles content and metadata from iPhoto and Aperture - Apple Support
How iPhoto content and metadata migrate to Photos
Photos and organization:
- Photos and movies migrate without changes. Your images migrate with the adjustments and filters you applied in iPhoto. You can't modify the adjustments in Photos, but you can revert to the original image.
- Events migrate to a folder labeled "iPhoto Events" in the Albums view.
- Albums are preserved in Photos.
- Most Smart Albums are preserved in Photos. Smart Albums with selection criteria that isn’t supported by Photos usually migrate to Smart Albums with "(modified)" added to the Smart Album name; in cases where none of the Smart Album criteria are supported in Photos, the Smart Album isn't migrated.
- Some photo books and calendars, made with themes that are no longer supported in Photos, migrate to Albums.
- Slideshows are preserved in Photos. If a slideshow theme is not available in Photos, it uses the default Photos slideshow theme.
Keywords and other metadata:
- Keywords are preserved in Photos.
- Photos preserves user-defined titles. Images without user-defined titles will show as "untitled" in Photos.
- Star ratings migrate as similar keywords in Photos, such as “1 Star,” “2 Stars,” and so on.
- Flagged images migrate with the keyword “Flagged” and appear in the “Flagged” Smart Album in the Albums view.
- Most metadata is preserved in Photos. Some IPTC metadata, including Copyright, won't appear in Photos, but is still associated with the image and can be seen in iPhoto, Aperture, and other applications that display IPTC metadata.

Sep 7, 2015 9:58 AM in response to legaleye300by Old Toad,Here is my 2¢ worth on the subject:
Moments in Photos are the new Events, i.e. groupings of photos sorted by date taken.
When the iPhoto Library was first migrated to Photos there is a folder created in the sidebar titled iPhoto Events and all migrated iPhoto Events (which are now Moments) are represented by an album in that folder. To open the sidebar if it's not already open use the Option+Command+S key combination.
NOTE: It's been reported by several users that if the Event albums are moved out of the iPhoto Library folder in the sidebar they may disappear. It's not widespread but several users have reported that issue. Therefore, if you want to assure that you keep those Event albums don't move them outside the iPhoto Events folder.
There's a way to simulate events in Photos.
When new photos are imported into the Photos library go to the Last Import smart album, select all the photos and use the File ➙ New Album menu option or use the key combination Command+N. Name it as desired. It will appear just above the iPhoto Events folder where you can drag it into the iPhoto Events folder
When you click on the iPhoto Events folder you'll get a simulated iPhoto Events window.
The downside to the simulation is that the Albums/Events can only be sorted automatically by Title. But they can also be sorted manually, either in the sidebar or in the folder's window at the right. This will change with the release of Photos 2 with El Capitan this fall. That will allow the sorting by date or title, ascending or descending.
Tell Apple what missing features you'd like restored or new features added in Photos via Apple-Photos Feedback.

Sep 7, 2015 10:48 AM in response to Old Toadby R Marf,Another question related to albums/events from iPhoto to photos Photos...
As mentioned earlier, when migrating from iPhotos to Photos events/albums from iPhoto will be placed in an album tilted "iPhoto Albums" under Albums. Is there a way to move all of the albums within the "iPhoto Albums" out so they are under the Photos Album tab and together with albums created in Photos?
-
Sep 7, 2015 10:58 AM in response to R Marfby Old Toad,Yes. Just drag then from the folder in the sidebar to just above the folder. That will take them out of the folder and into the sidebar under albums.
However, in my opinion and experience if you have a lot of albums it will be harder to find a particular album as you have to scroll up and down the side bar and search by album title. If you keep them in a folder and click on that folder in the sidebar you're looking at them as if you were looking at the Events window in iPhoto. Each album will have a name and even better a key image which will help identify the album.

No - no one said that
what was said is
When you migrate your iPhoto events are converted to Albums and stored in a folder names iPhoto Events
This folder is in the albums section of Photos along with all of your iPhoto album and all of the Photos preset albums - the albums created during migration are albums and you can move, change, delete them just like any other album
Your iPhoto albums are not placed in a folder - only the new albums created form the events as posted

Sep 7, 2015 11:14 AM in response to LarryHNby legaleye300,I like my iPhoto Events layoff and do not want to use Photos. Is there a good 3rd party program that will import photos from iPhoto? Thanks.
-
Sep 7, 2015 11:19 AM in response to legaleye300by léonie,There are good (and expensive third-party programs that support lossless photo libraries - Capture One Pro or Lightroom), but they will not directly migrate your iPhoto libraries. You will need to export the photos and reimport.

Sep 7, 2015 11:20 AM in response to legaleye300by LarryHN,No idea but I doubt it
Why not just continue to use iPhoto since it works great and will for some time - forever if you do not upgrade to new OSs that are incompatible sometime in the future

Sep 7, 2015 11:21 AM in response to legaleye300by Old Toad,iPhoto was not deleted from your hard drive, only removed from the Dock. If you have iPhoto 9.6.1 you can still use your iPhoto library.
If you don't have that version but some earlier version of iPhoto 9.x try following Terence Devlin's instructions in this post to obtain iPhoto 9.6.1 from the App Store:
Apr 14, 2015 11:21 AM
Re: Is Iphoto gone ? i want it back!
Recommended
Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash.
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

Sep 7, 2015 11:27 AM in response to legaleye300by LarryHN,Who knows? reports are that it does in the Beta but no one know what the release will have in it or the next release or the next release
