Apple Music compatible with Bluetooth Speakers?

Ever since updating to iOS 8.4.1 and having Apple Music replace iTunes, my iPhone is apparently no longer compatible with my car's stereo, so I cannot listen to my iPhone in my car.

I was considering buying a Bluetooth speaker (specifically Sentey® Bluetooth Speakers B-trek S4) to keep in my car so I can listen to music that way, but I don't want to buy something else my iPhone won't be compatible with.

Has anyone tried using their iPhone with a Bluetooth speaker since updating to 8.4.1?

I already checked with my local Honda dealership and they don't know if/when there will be a firmware update for the stereo, so I can't rely on that, sadly. 😟 I have a 2010 Honda Fit Sport, and it has never had a problem playing music from my iPhone before. But since the update to the new iOS and Apple Music, it has so many issues when I try to use it, and the majority of the time it will stop playing the music and say "unsupported" on the stereo screen.

I just wish I'd never updated, it's been nothing but trouble. I feel like this new (very buggy) app was basically forced on me, and now I can't get rid of it or do anything about it. It's made my iPhone experience miserable. I shouldn't need to spend money on bluetooth speakers for my car just to listen to music when I was able to do so just fine before, but because I get NO choice in whether or not Apple Music is on my phone, it's the only thing I can think of right now. 😟

I use my iPhone 6 with Apple music with several bluetooth devices (Blue Buds earphones, Beats Pill X) and three different cars with Bluetooth Audio (2015 Toyota Corolla, 2015 Toyota Venza and 2014 Honda CRV) and have no issues connecting since updating and using Apple Music. So I would doubt the cause is the iOS update/Apple Music.

Have you checked Honda's website about the issue or done a Google Search to see if it is a known issue with your model/year car?

I have asked my local Honda dealership (where I bought the car) and googled and have come up with nothing.

All I know is that my car stereo has been playing music from my iPhone just fine for years, and now with Apple Music suddenly it's telling me that the "accessory" is not compatible and that it's "unsupported". And when it does manage to play a song or two, I can no longer skip back and forth between tracks using the stereo controls because of "Up Next". Apparently there's an incompatibility there, too, and that drives me nuts because I cannot safely skip tracks while driving anymore, I have to do it ON my phone, which is illegal in my state (using cell phone at all while driving). The only way I've figured out to get around this is to create a playlist with ALL of my music on it, then if I play the playlist I can skip around between tracks. But it almost doesn't matter, because I can't seem to get through one song before the iPhone and stereo have an incompatibility issue and stop working.

And the car stereo thing isn't the only issue I've had with it. Whenever I try to sync my phone with my laptop, I end up with duplicate playlists and songs, songs becoming unavailable unless I'm connected to wifi and needing to be downloaded again even though I never deleted them, songs I DID delete months ago suddenly reappearing out of nowhere even though I have never used iCloud or anything else that would store them off of my device. It's crazy.

I find it hard to believe that the update/Apple music is not the cause of the problems when the problems started the day I updated. And while I understand it's not Apple's job to make sure their product is compatible with every accessory and device out there, I would have preferred that all of these changes to the music player be optional, that Apple Music be a separate app for people who actually WANT the streaming music (which I don't). It has completely changed the way I use my iPhone for listening to music, and I was perfectly happy with how it was before. 😟
