I use iClever Himbox for my handsfree Bluetooth interface. It works well, except sometimes when I get back into the car my iPhone is still Bluetooth connected to it and sometimes not. Is standard procedure for Bluetooth devices? Why does it reconnect sometimes but not others?

I was hoping to have some Bluetooth theory before I did that.
Such as, is there any Bluetooth device where when the iPhone goes out of range for a while and comes back into range, it always automatically connects without having to open the Bluetooth screen? Or, is it inherent in Bluetooth (including on the iPhone) that one may need to open the Bluetooth screen to hit "connect"?
This is basic Bluetooth stuff, not manufacturer-specific stuff.
