Can I stop Siri from highlighting entire sentences?

The more I use my iPhone, the more hit-and-miss voice recognition is. It's becoming apparent how very much of speech Siri does not understand, so I have to go back and edit a lot. That would be fine and dandy, were it not for the fact that Siri will underline an entire sentence with that dotted, blue line. I can't select a single word; it always highlights the whole selection. So if the sentence is not letter-perfect, I can either type the whole thing out, or deal with it. Is there no way to make Siri back off with the excessive underlining, and trust that I am intelligent enough to speak in complete sentences?

Update: shake the phone, and tap Cancel. Underline gone!
