I don't understand the purpose of buying a monthly membership to listen to music I have purchased already. I feel this is a rip off and another way just to get more money. Just following the new trend like everyone else.

what exactly are you talking about? You can use iTunes and the music app without paying a monthly fee. All of your purchased music is still there. You pay a monthly fee for the Apple Music service. It lets you listen to all the music Apple has for $9.99 a month. If you want to just listen to your music then cancel your subscription.
have this same problem. I bought a new phone 6 plus and it would show my music there but wouldn't play it. As I tried to figure out how to get it playing I saw make avail offline. So I started doing that to all my music but then it says my membership is expired and I have to pay that. To hear songs I've bought in the past? I'm so close to leaving apple and I've been app since the first iPhone.
I actually found a solution myself. I ended up going to iTunes store, and then searched the song and bought it again, and since i downloaded it before it didn't got me anything. Hope this helps everyone!!

I bought a song a few weeks ago and it won't play it takes me straight to the itunes monthly membership page.
