Problem with DHCP client ID?

Hi all

I have just moved apartment and am finding that I can no longer connect to my existing network via wifi with my mac mini 2012. The issue is apparently not one of range: the mac mini picks up the network - 4 bars - but when I try to join I get the message that the network could not be joined.

My other computers have no trouble connecting.

on the TCP/IP tab in network settings the IPv4 address is blank. Do I need to manually assign an IPv4 address, or looking elsewhere?

Mac mini (Late 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

thanks

I ran wireless diagnotics but didn't get too far, beyond advice to review wifi best practices, and advised to try a little closer to the router, but surely if the computer is picking up the four bars the signal is strong enough?

For what its worth the macbook pro is a few inches away and picks up a very strong signal.

I turned off bluetooth for my speakers but with my mouse and keyboard this is not really an option.

the big difference between the Macbook and the mini seems to be on the TCP/Ip tab. ON the (connected) macbook I have an IPv4 address, a subnet mask, and a router id. But all blank on the mini.
