You have to understand that Apple and Google and most other "social" media companies are run by liberals. 90% of the news sources will of course be liberal. You think they would actually allow you to pick Fox News or ignore news from CNN or HuffPo? This could indeed be a great news reader, but only if you're a liberal. This is just another app for the trash folder If you're conservative.

Using this technique, I was able to block Vox, Huffington Post, CNN, MSNBC, NY Times, LA Times, Slate, Salon and all other other left-wing, fake news sites. In fact, I was even able to block the absurd, purposely deceitful polls from Farleigh Dickson University. Thanks F. Maxwell for notifying me (much to your chagrin) on what I should block!
TThanks, figured out the favorites part. How do you block a source that you didn't favorite That pops up in new for you?
There doesn't appear to be a specific source block. I assume you are getting this source via a category rather than a specific source selected in Favorites. Not sure there is much yo can do.
Thanks. I was afraid of that.
very nice looking news aggregator but I guess it will go in my folder of "Apple" apps I can't delete until version 2.
As a parent, I am interested in source control for the News app. Don't want my kids reading certain sources at certain ages.
This article, referencing a WWDC 2015 presentation, suggests there are some kind of restrictions for News in managed devices (if you go to the video it is at approximately 30-35 min). Not the case for un-managed devices?

That article has absolutely nothing to do with what you are asking for.
The app is included in the Restrictions function for iOS, meaning you can block it entirely. It also may respond to content ratings in Restriction, but I cannot say for sure. News articles are rarely rated in that manner, so it is entirely possible that it doesn't.
IN your feed, click and hold on an article from the news source you want to block and a menu will pop up, choose "mute channel"
This worked for me. Press and slide up to mute channel. No more crappy Mirror Online yay! Thanks Sadira
This worked for me. Thanks.
You can block items as they appear using the menu option suggested but what really annoys me is that as fast as I block things other equally unwanted rubbish fills up the app. I spend very little time reading the news because I'm too busy trying to delete unwanted rubbish. Plus the app allows you to add subject matter you are interested in but there is no way of deleting subject matters that you are not interested in. This could be a good app if these matters were addressed. At the moment it's really annoying. Also I don't live in the US - something that Apple seems to find astonishing!
From the article, click the "Share" icon. You will see a option to "Mute Channel".
thanks so much men
Swipe right on an article in your feed and select mute channel. Swiping left also offers choices.
